1. Is the course of high demand in the job market?
Courses like BSc Biology, BA Development studies, BA Linguistics, BA Social Work, BSc HRM, BSc Geological Engineering, BA Classics and Religion, BA Political Science, and many others are very good for knowledge acquisition but if you want job soonest after school, then sorry, you have to reconsider them.
2. Which school offers the course you wish to offer?
Read about your dream school and the courses they offer. Eg. LEGON does not offer BA Mathematics Education, UEW does not do Medicine and Law, KNUST doesn't do BA Literature, etc.
3. What is your qualification and what course can you offer with it?*
Your elective subjects combination determines the course you can offer. Example, a Home Economics student, would not be admitted to read BA English Studies at KNUST same as a General Art student wouldn't gain admission to read Dentistry at LEGON.
4. Which schools have cheaper school fees?
Surprisingly, Nursing Training and Teacher Training are the most expensive tertiary institutions in Ghana. Generally, traditional public universities are cheaper.
5. What is the cut-off grade for the course you wish to do?
Generally, aggregate 36 in WASSCE qualifies one into any tertiary institution. But each school, department and course have their own cut-off grade. Read well about it before you fill the forms, else, you may be denied admission.
6. What course will you be "happy" to pursue?
There's nothing more fulfilling than pursuing a course that you enjoy learning. Don't allow society, friends and family to pressurise you to pursue a programme you don't love.

For a worker who merely needs upgrading in the workplace, distance or sandwich is okay. But for a fresh SHS leaver, regular is preferable except you have challenges with finances.
